<title>Thermodynamische Materialtheorien</title>
<link>http://publications.mfo.de/handle/mfo/2874</link>
<description>Thermodynamische Materialtheorien
The meeting was focused on research in the broad field of thermodynamic constitutive theories. It provided a contact between physicists, engineers and mathematicians, whose talks led to lively and interesting discussions. The debate concentrated on the physical motivation of the models subjected to mathematical analysis.

<description>Finite Fields: Theory and Applications
Finite fields are the focal point of many interesting geometric, algorithmic and combinatorial problems. The workshop was devoted to progress on these questions, with an eye also on the important applications of finite field techniques in cryptography, error correcting codes, and random number generation.

<title>Spectral Analysis of Partial Differential Equations</title>
<link>http://publications.mfo.de/handle/mfo/2872</link>
<description>Spectral Analysis of Partial Differential Equations
In this workshop talks on discrete spectra, including Lieb-Thirring estimates and properties of resonances were presented. The connection between continuous and discrete spectra was discussed. Various characteristics of continuous spectra in the context of random or magnetic operators were investigated. The Liouville Theorem, the problem of absolute continuity, and the classical problem of homogenization for perodic operators were treated.

<description>New Inference Concepts for Analysing Complex Data
The main purpose of this workshop was to assemble international leaders from statistics and machine learning to identify important research problems, to cross-fertilize between the disciplines, and to ultimately start coordinated research efforts toward better solutions. The workshop focused on discussing modern methods for analysis complex high dimensional data with applications to econometrics, finance, biomedicine, genomics etc.
