dc.description.abstractPhase transitions are common phenomena which occur in many fields of material sciences. Models of phase transitions in diverse physical systems often lead to ill-posed mathematical problems whose solutions are characterized by oscillations, bifurcations and singularities. Random fluctuations and stochastic events also play an important role in determining the nature of the solutions.
