Positive Scalar Curvature and Applications

Abstract

[also available in Spanish] We introduce the idea of curvature, including how it developed historically, and focus on the scalar curvature of a manifold. A major current research topic involves understanding positive scalar curvature. We discuss why this is interesting and how it relates to general relativity.

Introducimos la idea de curvatura, incluyendo su desarrollo histórico, y nos enfocamos en la curvatura escalar de una variedad. Uno de los temas principales de investigación actual es entender la curvatura escalar positiva. Discutiremos por qué es interesante y su relación con la teoría general de la relatividad.
